And in a whiff of snow (at least here)... November is over! :faint:

After asking you How Do YOU Survive NaNoWriMo? , and reiterating in How do YOU Survive NaNoWriMo? (week 2) , I feel like now that the month is over there's something important you all can offer the community...

YOUR SOUL!!!

:stare: nope, even better.

You can share your story with us! And I don't mean the plot of your story, although you're welcome to do that too... I mean the story of how you lived through November.

It doesn't matter whether you think you're a Super Noob, you think you have no particular strategy or technique, or think you're the best of the class: everyone who takes part in NaNoWriMo leaves with something more than what they started with... and a lot of that is a precious experience. For the better or the worst, this November, you all learned some stuff out there.

And I want to know what that is! :la:
I won't sell your soul I promise.

So I present to you...

The NaNoWriMo Meme!

also known as the MeMeWriMo

Step into my world of madness and feel free to choose whether to answer my questions in a comment, or make a journal of your own...but beware! The rules must be followed, lest you incur the wrath of the maiden. :stare:

RULES!!!1111one!

:bulletpink: sacrifice five sticks of celery to the altar of the Peanut Butter God to prevent disaster from striking. Or, you know, tag a NaNoWriter in the comments. :B

:bulletorange: link to this blog if you make your own MeMeWriMo Journal!

:bulletred: answer all questions! You can be as serious, funny, and creative as you want.

THE QUESTIONS!

1: Prologue
What gave you the idea for your novel this year?

2: Introduction
What made you decide that that story idea was the RIGHT IDEA?

3: A Lil'Bit of Plot
How much plot building did you do before November? Did it help you, or could you have survived without?

4. A Lil'Bit of Action
What is your favourite part of the writing process? The action scenes, the dialogues, the descriptions... so much to choose from!

5. A Lil'Bit of Conflict, too
When/how did you decide what the central conflict of the novel would be? Everything eventually comes back to it, doesn't it?!

6. The Obstacles
What was the most difficult part of your NaNoWriMo this year?

7. The Victors
And what was the easiest?

8. Finishing The Puzzle
Did you tie all your loose ends, or leave space for a sequel?

9. Epilogue... or is it?
Did NaNoWriMo scare you off the wagon... or will you do it again next year? :eager:

:la: Congratulations to everyone who took part in this massive challenge, I have infinite respect for you! I can't wait to see everyone's answers.

Can I sacrifice my celery to the stuffing gods instead?  I'm allergic to peanut butter, and am cooking for my family's crazy-late Thanksgiving anyway. (Just in case this is not acceptable, though, I am tagging queenofeagles! :happybounce: )

I am usually creative with my memes, but seeing as I've got tons of food left to prepare and I'm all written out, I'm just going to be lazy and answer the questions.  I feel like such a failure already... :ashamed:

1. The idea was sparked by a forum discussion, then spurred on by copious amounts of electro swing and a name from someone's forgotten gas receipt.  What could possibly go wrong, right? :D

2. It was my only idea. :stare: As I was so kindly reminded by a friend in the first week, I am not a novelist.  I write short poetry and even shorter non-fic.  The Un-Novel I'm still working on was a much better idea, but as far as fiction goes, this was the only thing I could think of. ^^;

3. I attacked NaNo with a three page outline.  Did I follow it?  Absolutely not! :D Should I have tried harder to stick to the plan?  Probably. =p

4. My favorite part, and literally the only thing that kept me going, was my Un-Novel breaks.  They were far too infrequent, and I only have half the words on it that I should, but it was always such a relief to slip back into nonfiction!  Dear hubby also gifted me a fish halfway through, when I'd already reached the 50k mark with all the poetry and nonfic included. (I kept a separate count for this, to keep my NaNo count completely official and honest.) Her name is Polunu, and she lives in a securely locked tank beside my desk.  When I'd get stuck and frustrated, I'd just look over at her and admire her for a while.  It was so soothing! :Fishy:

5. I don't remember consciously doing this.  I know.  I am a terrible fiction writer. :stare: I think, though, it must have been somewhere in the pre-NaNo planning?  I hope it was?  Oh dear...  Now I'm stressing over it again.  I knew it was going to be bad, but is it really that bad?! :(

6. Priorities.  A professor I had in college once pulled me aside and told me that my problem is that I don't know how to tell people no.  I just don't seem to understand that sometimes, my needs and goals need to come first.  And you know what?  She was right.  I got totally derailed time and time again because something came up and I went to help.  But I do not see a problem with this.  It was a novel, not a life or death situation.  In the grand scheme of things?  No, it is not that important, especially since I am not a novelist.  I think I have my priorities straight, thank you. :aww: (And for anyone who's curious?  I finished with just under 60k on the novel alone, despite everything.  I win.)

7. Does setting up the tank count? ^^; In all seriousness, though, finding time to write was actually no problem at all.  I have this amazing husband, see, and he went out of his way every day to make sure I had time to NaNo.  And even on the days I used that time to focus on other things?  He didn't get mad.  He was just so incredibly supportive, and so many good things happened in November because of him.  I love that man.  SO MUCH!!!!

8. :lmao: Tying up loose ends? I pretty much just cut it loose.  I like it, really.  I think it works.  I am not an expert, though.  The ending is likely as awful as the rest of it, but at least that makes it consistent. :)

9. I should never be allowed to NaNo again. :stare:
